Note: While Lucca’s reflection highlights the activities we did on Day 10, Lucca really does a great job thinking more about what was gained by his experiences in Taiwan (both physical and nonphysical)
This trip to Taiwan has been a magical experience for me. We were gone for more than a week and yet it feels like only yesterday we arrived. But in the time I have been here I feel like I have had so many once in a lifetime experiences.

For example, today we learned about Taiwan’s aboriginal people and visited an aboriginal community. Everyone we interacted with was so friendly and welcoming and they took the time to prepare us a delicious lunch. The level of care and hospitality they showed was truly heartwarming and it reminded me what a rare and beautiful thing kindness to and from strangers is.

Every time I travel internationally I am surprised when I start feeling homesick. Home is truly a singular place and no matter how much fun I’m having a little part of me still wishes for the familiar. During this trip I have not only filled my suitcase and backpack with things I am going to bring home and share with my family, but I have also filled my mind with lessons learned and memories of amazing experiences. I applied to this trip with the mission of learning about Taiwan and its people, and I am happy to say I think I have completed that mission.
