Ramses M. – Reflections on AHSNCCU and Forum

Note: Both Ramses and Amara chose to reflect on meeting kids from our partner school AHSNCCU. Read both posts for two similar but different experiences.

When we visited AHSNCCU, our partner school in Taiwan, we were all nervous to talk to the other students. When we arrived on campus, the students were waiting in front of the school all with signs with our names on them. These were groups for our forum. We would give presentations on the second day. The other students spoke great English and it was great to have so many conversations with them.

We all shared many things in common. We had lunch in a meeting room and talked with out assigned students and they brought gifts of tea and candies. We finished the first night by going to an all you can eat hot-pot restaurant. It was great to share a meal with the students and converse.

On the second day, we gave our presentations with my group coming in second place! We were rewarded with some great snacks from squid flavored chips to pineapple cakes and much more!

After this, we shadowed a student in their class which was a super interesting experience! I really enjoyed seeing the differences between the teaching styles at AHSNCCY and NWS. The students showed us amazing hospitality and I am so grateful for meeting new people!
