Note (by Alex) – One of the reasons why I do international trips is to witness students have new experiences, ones that are almost impossible to come by stateside. To break free of one’s comfort zone and not only enjoy, but celebrate cuisine from a culture that is not one’s own is a delightful side effect of this trip. Lastly a banquet meal off the coast of Taiwan:
Course 1: White bread with Crab paste spread
Course 2: Chilled Beef cooked Medium Rare
Course 3: Chilled Spring Chicken
Course 4: Clams in a black bean sauce
Course 5: Calamari deep fried with shrimp chips
Course 6: Ham and Egg fried rice
Course 7: Wintermelon Soup with Fish
Course 8: Spot Prawns
